My Poppyseed-Vanilla Porridge: Tangerines

For Christmas, I got this nice Porrige Mix (Flavor: vanilla with poppyseeds) from my friends. They knew that I am into breakfast stuff and like to try new recipes :) Porridge was already on my list for a while, but it is a little challenging to make Porridge (or oatmeal) look appealing...

Well, anyways, this Porridge is from "N'Oats" and they also have a variety of different recipes from warm porridge, overnight oats to mugcake porridge and even waffles... And all of these options looked delicious.

The Poppyseed-Vanilla Porridge tastes already really great alone, a very classical flavor that totally hits my taste buds, I love poppyseeds :) But I will make it my project to recreate some of those recipes! Today, I started with a Poppyseed-Vanilla Porridge bowl with extra vanilla and tangerines. I tweaked the original recipe a little to give it my own little spin ;)

Ingredients:

  • 60 g (6 Tbsps) N'Oats "Poppyseed-Vanilla Porridge"
  • 200 ml milk
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla pudding powder
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp milk
  • a few slices tangerine (tin can)
  • a few coconut flakes

Preparation:

  1. Start preparing the porridge. Heat up the milk and stir in the Porridge. Bring it to a quick boil, then reduce heat and let stand for 3 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, prepare the extra vanilla sauce. In a small bowl, add the vanilla powder, sugar and the 2 Tbsps milk. Whisk everything together to a smooth liquid. Add half of the extra vanilla sauce to the porridge and mix well.
  3. Transfer the porridge to a bowl. Pour the rest of the extra vanilla sauce on top. Then, decorate with a few slices of tangerine. I liked to use the canned ones, as they are nicely sweet and without skin. Sprinkle with a few coconut flakes.
Note: You can prepare the porridge also with vanilla soya milk to give it even more of a vanilla flavor. And to get a lighter version, you can substitute part of the milk with water.
